What is a special fastener?
When the catalogue part will not do
Special fasteners are non-standard fasteners made to specific customer requirements where off-the-shelf parts are unsuitable. HAGUE FASTENERS has made special fasteners in the UK since 1971, in our own facility in Willenhall, West Midlands.
A fastener becomes special through its dimensions, thread, material or the proof that comes with it. Many are used in safety-critical and regulated equipment, where the part must be traceable from mill heat to installation.

When a drawing no longer exists, we can work from the part itself. Dimensions are measured and verified, then replacements are made to the recovered specification with the right inspection and certification.

Every special fastener is made under our ISO 9001 quality system, with full material traceability and dimensional control through manufacture. Inspection can include first article inspection and documented verification against your drawing, with certificates supplied as your contract requires.

Frequently asked questions
What qualifies as a special fastener?
A special fastener is any fastener made outside standard catalogue dimensions or specifications. That may be a non-standard size, a special thread such as metric fine or Whitworth, an unusual head form, an upgraded material such as Inconel 718 or Hastelloy C276, or specific coating, testing or certification requirements.
Can you work from a sample or damaged part?
Yes. We reverse engineer special fasteners from samples or damaged parts by measurement and verification, then make replacements with the right inspection and certification.
What are typical lead times for special fasteners?
It depends on material, complexity and any testing required. One-off and small batch parts can often be made quickly, and urgent breakdown and outage orders are prioritised wherever possible.
Do you manufacture special fasteners in the UK?
Yes. All our special fasteners are made in our own facility in Willenhall, West Midlands, from UK, EU or US material.
Do you supply small quantities?
Yes. We make one-off prototypes and batches of 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100, through to several hundred and repeat scheduled supply.
