Engineer Studs

Hague Fasteners have been manufacturing special engineer studs and waisted studs since 1971.

All special Engineer Studs are made to order so any thread lengths, thread fits or fitted diameter shanks can be easily accommodated.

Likewise all materials are carried in stock so that whenever you have a need for a small batch of double ended studs, Hague can give you an immediate quote and manufacture with a next day delivery if required.

Due to the countless combinations of Engineer Stud type, material grade, thread length configuration, thread form and many other variables, it is impossible to find your custom stud sitting on a stockists’ shelf, but Hague Fasteners can perform an immediate manufacture and supply often faster than a Stockist can draw from stock.

All Hague Fasteners need to know is …

What type of stud you need, is it a conventional Engineer Stud, a waisted stud, tie bars, a collar stud, wheel studs or studs to drawing or your design

What thread type…

are they UNC studs, UNF Studs, BSW Studs, BSF Studs, Metric Studs or Metric Fine Studs or even a combination of different threads on each end, a step down stud for example.

What material grade…

Hague Fasteners make Engineer Studs in all materials: from mild steel and alloy steels through high tensile grade 8.8 Studs, 10.9 Studs & 12.9 Studs. Hague’s forte is in the exotic materials, super duplex grades, stainless steels and critical superalloys.

What qty…

Hague are unbeatable in small batch runs 10pcs, 25pcs, 100pcs, 250pcs, quantities that need making to order.

What dimensional standards…

Of course many Engineer Studs are complete Special Studs made to your designs and drawings, but often special material grade studs are needed to a regular international standard such as DIN525 Studs, DIN938 Studs. DIN939 Studs, DIN940 Studs, DIN2509 Studs. DIN2510 Studs, BS2693 Studs, BS4439 Studs, ANSI B16.5 Studs, NFE25135 Studs or any other international standard stud.

Engineer Studs

A normal stud bolt is a round metal bar that is either fully screwed or just screwed at both ends. Engineered stud bolts are the same except for having flanges that are set at a certain distance from one end to create a positive collar against the surface which the stud bolt is tightened on to. Whether you want Engineer Studs that have a large diameter or a longer length we can manufacture them as this is our speciality. There is a very high standard and excellence that shines through with the high temperature material grades and super duplex steel materials we use in our fasteners.

Wheel Studs
Wheel Studs are primarily used on automobiles to hold the wheel to your vehicle; they are the threaded fastener that keeps them in place on any automobile. Wheel Studs are only semi-permanent when mounted onto the vehicle hub and generally nuts are fastened over the wheel studs to secure the wheel in place, this is usually applied through the brake drum or discs. The primary advantage of using Wheel Studs instead of wheel bolts is because they are much easier to remove when it comes to changing a tire. It allows you to lift both the wheel and tire onto the studs instead of trying to hold up both the wheel and tire whilst also trying to line up the holes to insert the bolts; the Wheel Studs create the ability to hold and locate during tire changes which is safer, easier and not time consuming.

Experts in Manufactured Engineer Studs Since 1971

For over 4 decades, Hague Fasteners have excelled in the quality manufacturing of Engineer Studs.

What is an Engineer Stud ?
There are various key identifiers when it comes to specifying an Engineer Stud. Many international standards exist and Hague can manufacture to the dimensions required under all standards or indeed a bespoke special stud can easily be made to your unique requirements and drawings.

The Metal End is the Stud End that is screwed into the existing component base or body. This is generally 1 or 1.5 times the nominal diameter as specified by purchaser or international standard.
TheNut End is the Stud End which is not screwed into the existing component. A nut is tightened into this shorter threaded end to secure the fixing.
The Plain portion is the part of stud which is not screwed. This shall be greater than 50% of the nominal dia and normally includes thread runouts.
Nominal length- The British Standard BS4439 identifies a range of Nominal lengths from 12mm to 500 mm. The nominal length is the plain portion length & the Nut Threaded End added together.
d – Hague regularly manufacture Engineer Studs in the diameter range M6 (1/4″) through M100 (4″).
Threads Notes
According to the BS4439 standard the threads on the nut end and on the metal end shall be in accordance with BS 3643 parts 1-3. The nut end shall be to the tolerance 6g (medium fit.). This is as normal for a general bolt. The metal end shall be to the tolerance of a close fit (4h) or an oversize tolerance as specified.
The tapped hole shall be to the tolerance 4H or, if it is not critical application a medium 6H tolerance can apply.
Be sure to give the Stud Experts a call with your next Engineer Stud requirements. Hague Fasteners are ready to manufacture for you.

Are your Wheel Studs, Stud Bolts or Engineer Studs Quality Assured?

Do you buy your engineer studs cheaply from the mass produced imported market? If so, how much of an effect does this have in the quality of your fasteners? Perhaps you replace your wheel studs, or stud bolts almost twice as much as you should? Does it then make these inferior imported fasteners worth their while?

Here at Hague Fasteners, we have been in the fastening industry since way back in 1971,  and have firmly established ourselves within in it, providing quality assured non-standard and custom made fasteners for all industries from construction, to building, oil & gas, steel fabrication, water, mining, power generation and transportation worldwide.

We are extremely proud to have been one of the Original manufacturers of B7/2H Studbolt Assemblies in the 1970’s, and still to this day provide non-imported, quality assured UK Manufactured items.

We do not try to compete against the surge of imported Standard Petrochemical type Studboltsthat are mass produced & cheaply imported. We feel strongly about quality, and were quick to excuse ourselves from the mass market as soon as the marketplace became flooded with the inferior imports.

To this day our excellence shines through with the High Temperature Material Grades and Super Duplex & Critical Stainless Steel Materials that we use. We manufacture high quality fasteners, wheel studs, stud bolts, engineered studs and many more – concentrating on non -standard sizes and exotic materials.

For whatever stud or fastener you are looking for, be it wheel studs, stud bolts and engineer studs look no further than Hague Fasteners. We excel in the Petrochemical grade bolting with larger diameters or where there is a pre-requisite of Non-Imported, Quality Assured UK Manufactured items.

Engineer Studs with larger diameters, longer lengths or through drilled are also our niche, as well as specialist wheel studs.

All of our Wheel Studs are manufactured to bespoke Special Vehicle Manufacturers designs, and are always made from UK sourced quality assured alloy steel, hardened as required and coated if needed, with Zinc or Manganese Phosphate. We are happy to supply on a call off basis against a longer term order or indeed we will manufacture 12off or whatever you need.

If you are looking for UK quality assured wheel studs, stud bolts, engineer studs or any fastener in fact, give the experts a call at Hague Fasteners.

Different Products Here at Hague Fasteners Including Engineer Studs.

As a fastener industry we have always try to build a strong relationship with fastener stockists and wholesalers in the UK and overseas. The aim of our company is not to treat fastener stockists as a competition, but is to make sure that our company complements the standard range that each standard fastener company offers their own clients. We have a very long tradition of assisting fastener stockists, wholesalers and general engineering supply companies with the manufacture of fasteners they would not or no longer keep on their shelves, including items to drawing or customer samples.
One of our specialites as a fastener company are engineer studs, we manufacture a range of engineer studs manufactured at the highest standards to suit all requirements. A stud (stud-bolt) is a round metal bar screwed at both ends or fully screwed. Engineered stud bolts can also have flanges at a set distance from one screwed end which provides a positive collar against which the stud is tightened. Engineer Studs with larger diameters, longer lengths or through drilled are our niche. Our excellence shines through with the High Temperature Material Grades and Super Duplex & Critical Stainless Steel Materials.
Wheel studs are used for many different automobiles and are the threaded fasteners that hold on the wheels of your automobile. They are semi permanently mounted directly to the vehicle hub, usually through the brake drum or break discs, nuts are fastened over the wheel stud to secure the wheel.
Stud bolts are used mainly to fasten pipes and tubes; they are used as a threaded fastener, with a head, and are designed to be used along with a nut. These are a very sensible and easy way of securing things like piping and tubing in many different industrial applications.

Hague Fasteners, the Real Studs of the Industry

Here at Hague Fasteners we like to manufacture custom fasteners, and we like to do it properly. Every detail has to be exact, and if it’s a custom fastener it needs to match the customer’s requirements exactly. And that’s no different when it comes to studs.
When we mention studs you probably think of attractive males that you’ve seen on T.V, well we’re an engineering company, so that isn’t the case! When we say Studs, we mean Studs – Engineer Studs, wheel studs, and stud bolts. But what are all these different types of stud?

Stud Bolts

Stud bolts are round metal bars that can be screwed at both ends or fully screwed, a bit like a screw with no head. Stud bolts like these are found all over the place, they are similar to doweling rods in the way that they work.
Engineer Studs

Engineer studs are the same as standard stud bolts except they can have flanges at a set distance from one end which creates a positive collar against the surface the stud bolt is tightened too. These are more specific studs.
Wheel Studs

We’ve written up about wheel studs before in a previous post right here on our blog. Wheel studs are on every vehicle with wheels and their purpose is to hold the wheel on to the axis of a vehicle and make it easier the wheels. If you want to know more about them please refer back to here.
Hague Fasteners are always willing to help you if you’re in need of custom fasteners, we manufacture fasteners from OEM Drawings and customer designs so you can be certain that we’ll be able to create the perfect fasteners for you.

If you are interested in custom fasteners, wheel studs, stud bolts or engineer studs you can contact us and get a quote through our website.

Hague Fasteners Product Showcase: Studbolts

Standard studbolts are now widely available off the shelf in the more obvious ASTM grades such as B7, B7M, L7, L7M, B8 or B8M, but we continue to provide a unique manufacturing service of studbolts and ancillary products such as washers in the more exotic materials.

Recent projects have seen studbolts and threaded rod, complete with heavy hex nuts, to BS4882 or ANSI B16.5 and ANSI B18.2.2 or BS1769 respectively, being manufactured by us in the Duplex grade 254SMO (Also known under the specifications UNS S31254, 1.4547, X1 CrNiMoCuN 20-18-7 and F44).

Over the years we have produced studbolts and heavy hex nuts in a wide range of these Duplex and Super Duplex grades as well as in grades of Incoloy, Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel, Titanium and many other nickel-based critical alloys.

As we are not stockists of petrochemical grade studbolts and hex nuts we will not be able to compete with importers who buy their product in bulk quantities, but we are very competitive with any item that they do not have on their shelves or in their stock, particularly in these critical alloys and with rolled or screw-cut threads.

We can produce any type of studbolt:  threaded rod (DIN975 & DIN976), tie bar, waisted studbolts (DIN2510), engineer studs (DIN938) slotted studbolts & wheelstuds or to your specific drawings or sample pieces.  Please contact us for more details or view our sales brochure.
