What Made in Britain Represents

Made in Britain serves as the official, protected trademark that unites UK manufacturers under one recognised symbol of excellence. The organisation brings together businesses that prove their products are genuinely British‑made — not assembled, not partially processed, but fully transformed through manufacturing carried out entirely in Great Britain or Northern Ireland.

To qualify for the Made in Britain trademark, manufacturers must meet strict criteria:

  • Raw materials or components must undergo a substantial and transformative change through manufacturing processes performed in the UK.
  • 100% of the labour involved in producing the finished product must be based in Great Britain or Northern Ireland.
  • For digital products, development, coding, quality control and maintenance must all take place within the UK.

As a result, this rigorous standard ensures that the Made in Britain mark remains a trusted symbol of responsible production.

UK Manufacturing Goes Viral

The response to our content has been extraordinary. Our videos have reached audiences far beyond the engineering sector, proving that UK manufacturing is not only relevant but genuinely fascinating to people worldwide. This surge in social media growth has put Hague Fasteners firmly on the map. As a result, viewers now see how critical fasteners are made and why precision matters.

Moreover, this visibility supports one of our biggest goals. We want to encourage young people to explore careers in UK manufacturing. By showing real processes, real people, and real engineering behind the scenes, we help to inspire the next generation. Our viral “bolt dipping” clips are more than just satisfying to watch. They open a window into a modern, high integrity family manufacturing business.

A Family Business With Deep Roots

Our story began in 1971, when John Stuart Hague founded Hague Fasteners in Wolverhampton. His vision was simple but ambitious. He set out to manufacture high quality, non standard fasteners in exotic materials. From day one, the focus was on small to medium batch specials made to drawing. That commitment still defines our work today and remains a key strength within UK manufacturing.

At the turn of the millennium, Hague Fasteners joined Richards & Allan (Nuts & Bolts) Ltd and European Breakdown Bolting (EBB Ltd), trading collectively as The Ralin Group. In 2010, we proudly returned to the original Hague Fasteners Limited name. This change reaffirmed our heritage, our independence, and our long standing reputation as a trusted supplier of critical fasteners.

Expanding Capabilities and Strengthening Quality

Over the years, our capabilities have grown significantly. In 2017, we invested in a new manufacturing centre in Willenhall, a Black Country town known for its engineering heritage. This custom refitted facility doubled our capacity and reduced lead times. It also reinforced our commitment to producing critical fasteners with exceptional accuracy and reliability.

As a third generation family manufacturing business, we continue to build on this foundation. Our dedication to quality, service, and responsiveness has earned the trust of clients worldwide. Furthermore, our ongoing social media growth now allows us to share that journey with millions. People who may never have stepped inside a factory can now see the care that goes into every order.

A Message From Max Hague, Accounts Manager

“My brothers and I are so proud of how far the business has come, and we are excited to see exceptional results across our social platforms, especially Instagram and Facebook. Over 41 million people have seen one of our videos. That is the most viral one, and many others have passed 10 million views. I am extremely proud of our family business, and seeing more people outside the manufacturing industry engage with our work gives a real insight into UK manufacturing.”

His words reflect the pride and passion that drive our team every day. As our social media growth continues, we are committed to sharing more insights, more craftsmanship, and more of the engineering excellence behind our critical fasteners. In addition, our presence on Instagram and Facebook helps us connect with new audiences who might never have considered a future in UK manufacturing.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The future is bright. With strong momentum, a growing audience, and a renewed focus on digital engagement, we are ready to take UK manufacturing to even greater heights. Our investment in social media growth will continue to showcase the skill, precision, and dedication behind every order. It will also highlight why critical fasteners remain essential to industries around the world.

As we move forward, we will keep balancing tradition with innovation. Our family manufacturing business will stay rooted in quality and service, while our online presence opens new doors. Your Trusted UK Manufacturer Of Precision specialist fastenings

In a world where many manufacturers focus on high-volume production and standardised components, there is a growing need for precision-engineered, non-standard fasteners that simply cannot be bought off the shelf. As a result, this is the space we have occupied for more than five decades. At Hague Fasteners, we specialise in the design and manufacture of bespoke fasteners, custom bolts, and precision-engineered components for industries where reliability and accuracy are essential.

What We Do as a Business

We manufacture all types of threaded and milled special fasteners in a wide range of materials. Moreover, we support customers who require components that go beyond standard specifications. Our expertise includes custom bolts, nuts, studs, socket screws, and complex machined fasteners designed to perform in demanding environments.

A major part of our work is the production of Safety Critical QC Level 1 fasteners for nuclear and defence applications. These sectors require absolute confidence in performance. Therefore, our manufacturing processes, material controls, and inspection standards reflect that responsibility. When customers need fasteners that must not fail—whether due to extreme temperatures, corrosive environments, or high-pressure conditions—they come to us.

How Long We’ve Been Operating

Hague Fasteners has been a privately owned British manufacturing business since 1971. Remaining independent has allowed us to stay agile, maintain our engineering values, and continue investing in specialist skills and equipment. Over the decades, we have seen the fastener industry evolve. However, our commitment to precision, quality, and customer-led manufacturing has remained at the core of everything we do.

What Makes Our Manufacturing Different

Our difference lies in our niche. We do not compete with general fastener stockists — we complement them. When a customer needs a fastener that is difficult to source, urgently required, or completely unique, we step in.

We specialise in:

  • Non-standard fasteners
  • Bespoke fastener manufacturing
  • Small to medium batch production
  • One-off prototypes and urgent breakdown replacements
  • Fasteners in difficult or exotic materials
  • OEM-specific and drawing-based components

Every item we produce is made to order. Whether it is a single prototype or several hundred pieces, each component is manufactured to the customer’s exact specification. For example, our team regularly works with challenging materials such as superalloys, stainless steels, nickel alloys, and high-temperature grades — materials often required in critical applications across nuclear, defence, petrochemical, and power generation sectors.

This ability to deliver precision-engineered fasteners quickly, accurately, and consistently is what sets us apart in the global fastener market.

We supply bespoke fasteners to a wide range of industries, including:

  • Nuclear
  • Defence
  • Petrochemical
  • Marine
  • Oil & Gas
  • Power Generation
  • Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Construction
  • Transport & Infrastructure

Each sector has its own technical demands. As a result, our ability to adapt to changing industry requirements has been key to our long-term success. Whether it is a high-integrity bolt for a nuclear installation or a custom fastener for a complex engineering project, our customers trust us to deliver components that meet their exact needs.

A member of Made in Britain

Hague Fasteners proudly holds membership with Made in Britain, an organisation that unites and promotes British manufacturers across sectors. The Made in Britain trademark, registered at the UK Intellectual Property Office, is internationally recognised as a symbol of quality, integrity, and trust.

Membership is earned, not given. Companies must manufacture their goods in Great Britain or Northern Ireland and provide written evidence of production. Consequently, Hague Fasteners views this mark as more than a logo; it represents our heritage, values, and ongoing commitment to British engineering excellence.

Why the trademark matters

The Made in Britain trademark builds trust across the supply chain. Distributors value it as a sign of reliability. Retailers recognise it as proof of quality. Shoppers feel reassured when they see the logo on products, packaging, or communications because it represents safety, value, and authenticity.

Bolt Dipping Goes Viral: Hague Fasteners on Social Media

At Hague Fasteners, we’ve always believed in precision, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way. But we didn’t expect a bolt dipping video to attract millions of views on Instagram and Facebook.

It started with a behind-the-scenes clip. One of our machinists dipped a freshly made bolt into hot wax for transport and handling protection. That short video went viral across Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. It resonated with two very different audiences—engineers who admire the technical accuracy, and everyday viewers who simply enjoy the satisfying motion.

Why It Works

Engineers see a visual confirmation of tolerances held and standards met. Everyone else just finds it… oddly satisfying.

We embraced the response. Our social media now features a mix of technical content, manufacturing insights, and what we call “fastener ASMR”—videos that highlight the beauty of engineering in motion.

Bolt Dipping Goes Viral

Our engineers dip bolts in protective wax to safeguard threads during transport and handling, ensuring each fastener arrives in perfect condition. A short video of this process drew unexpected attention online. Viewers responded to the precision, consistency, and clean execution—qualities that reflect our commitment to manufacturing excellence. In a fast-moving digital space, this glimpse into our workshop offers a rare moment of clarity, control, and craftsmanship

Non-Chinese Please – We're British

Taking the bus to work or having a relaxing walk amid the rush hour traffic, wherever you are, you will no doubt have a little bit of China on you.

Listening to your iPod – Made in China
Fiddling with your key ring – Made in China
Dressed to impress – Made in China

Our business has been established since 1971 and in recent years we have seen a massive upturn in requests for Manufactured Special Fasteners of Stainless Steels (and nonferrous materials) where it is stipulated in the supply terms that non Chinese sourced material must be used.
NonChinese Fasteners

We pride ourselves on the high integrity of all products we manufacture from a complex component made in house to a customers close toleranced drawing, to a standard pin or washer, ground or laser cut in the heart of England.

We fully appreciate the reasons customers are increasingly asking for manufactured fasteners from EU produced steels and NonChinese machine shops and are proud to advise all of our current and prospective Customers that Hague Fasteners do not get involved with any Chinese or Far Eastern imports.
In a complete turnaround Hague Fasteners are now even supplying British manufactured Bolts, Nuts & Washers into Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and even China, a process we never thought possible when we were losing contracts to these very countries in the 1980s.

In further support of British engineering Hague Fasteners have proudly completed their first year of Young Apprentice schemes seeing an increase in their Special Fastener Engineering Workforce with investment in youth training and staff development.

If you have any projects that require small volume, special, high integrity fasteners that cannot be sourced from China or from Chinese origin materials, we would kindly ask that you give Hague Fasteners a try.

British Manufacturing of Studbolts & Nuts – Special Fasteners

Since 1971 Hague Fasteners have perfected the art of Small Batch Special Fastener manufacturing.

From our inception in our earliest form in 1971, our early years saw us dominate the “breakdown delivery service” for troubleshooting emergency supply to the oil & gas industry.

Hague’s British Engineering Group were one of the earliest British manufacturers of Petrochemical Studbolts & Nuts. Their flow line thread rolling production facility in Wolverhampton ensured ASTM quality assured bolting was shipped around the world for Rigs and pipeline maintenance, the original Studbolt Manufacturing Ltd*

However in the late 1980’s due to costing pressures brought about by cheap Asian competition, Hague Fasteners decided to step away from the standard ASTM material production, leaving the regular sized Studbolts & Nuts to the competition. Naturally the market was flooded with often inferior Chinese manufactured cheap bolting, but as was so often seen in the 80’s British Manufacturing simply couldn’t compete with imports from China.

Several British Companies appeared as stockholders to continue the supply of Petrochemical Studbolts and Nuts by importing container loads of Foreign manufactured product. Some even claimed to “Manufacture” but simply cutting lengths of studding to required lengths misleading as the bolts remain imported and not of EU Origin. During this time Hague closed their Studbolt Manufacturing mass production facility and decided to focus their niche on the more specialist material grades where quality & integrity is required above cost alone.

To this day, Hague excel in the manufacture and supply of these Superalloy fasteners. Critical bolting in ASTM A453 660, Inconel 718, Inconel 625, Monel 400 along with Duplex & SuperDuplex Grades S31803, S32550, S32750, S32760.

It is with increasing regularity now that Hague Fasteners are winning orders against the cheap inferior imports where our High Integrity Customers through all Industries are stipulating that Imported Fasteners particularly of Asian Origin must not be supplied. An about turn and a return to British manufacturing excellence. Saving a few pounds is irrelevant if the quality you’re receiving is substandard or the materials received is not in full compliance with the specification required.

The Craftsmen In Fasteners – Risk Free Bolting Solutions Since 1971

* The appearance of “Studbolt Manufacturing Ltd” (now non-trading) in 2003 was as a result of the name being adopted by another firm following the closing down of The Ralin Group’s original named Company in the 1990’s and does not have any connection to Hague Fasteners Limited.
