Engineer Studs

Hague Fasteners have been manufacturing special engineer studs and waisted studs since 1971.

All special Engineer Studs are made to order so any thread lengths, thread fits or fitted diameter shanks can be easily accommodated.

Likewise all materials are carried in stock so that whenever you have a need for a small batch of double ended studs, Hague can give you an immediate quote and manufacture with a next day delivery if required.

Due to the countless combinations of Engineer Stud type, material grade, thread length configuration, thread form and many other variables, it is impossible to find your custom stud sitting on a stockists’ shelf, but Hague Fasteners can perform an immediate manufacture and supply often faster than a Stockist can draw from stock.

All Hague Fasteners need to know is …

What type of stud you need, is it a conventional Engineer Stud, a waisted stud, tie bars, a collar stud, wheel studs or studs to drawing or your design

What thread type…

are they UNC studs, UNF Studs, BSW Studs, BSF Studs, Metric Studs or Metric Fine Studs or even a combination of different threads on each end, a step down stud for example.

What material grade…

Hague Fasteners make Engineer Studs in all materials: from mild steel and alloy steels through high tensile grade 8.8 Studs, 10.9 Studs & 12.9 Studs. Hague’s forte is in the exotic materials, super duplex grades, stainless steels and critical superalloys.

What qty…

Hague are unbeatable in small batch runs 10pcs, 25pcs, 100pcs, 250pcs, quantities that need making to order.

What dimensional standards…

Of course many Engineer Studs are complete Special Studs made to your designs and drawings, but often special material grade studs are needed to a regular international standard such as DIN525 Studs, DIN938 Studs. DIN939 Studs, DIN940 Studs, DIN2509 Studs. DIN2510 Studs, BS2693 Studs, BS4439 Studs, ANSI B16.5 Studs, NFE25135 Studs or any other international standard stud.
Whatever your need, Hague Fasteners have decades of special material experience, and unrivalled stud manufacturing knowledge to ensure you will get the very best in customer service and delivery for all your engineer stud needs.

Experts in Manufactured Engineer Studs Since 1971

For over 4 decades, Hague Fasteners have excelled in the quality manufacturing of Engineer Studs.

From small diameter engineer studs for automotive use through large diameter High Pressure Turbine Casing Engineer Studs used in Power Generation facilities all around the World, Hague have the capacity to serve your Special Manufactured Fastener needs.

What is an Engineer Stud ?
There are various key identifiers when it comes to specifying an Engineer Stud. Many international standards exist and Hague can manufacture to the dimensions required under all standards or indeed a bespoke special stud can easily be made to your unique requirements and drawings.

The Metal End is the Stud End that is screwed into the existing component base or body. This is generally 1 or 1.5 times the nominal diameter as specified by purchaser or international standard.
TheNut End is the Stud End which is not screwed into the existing component. A nut is tightened into this shorter threaded end to secure the fixing.
The Plain portion is the part of stud which is not screwed. This shall be greater than 50% of the nominal dia and normally includes thread runouts.
Nominal length- The British Standard BS4439 identifies a range of Nominal lengths from 12mm to 500 mm. The nominal length is the plain portion length & the Nut Threaded End added together.
d – Hague regularly manufacture Engineer Studs in the diameter range M6 (1/4″) through M100 (4″).
Threads Notes
According to the BS4439 standard the threads on the nut end and on the metal end shall be in accordance with BS 3643 parts 1-3. The nut end shall be to the tolerance 6g (medium fit.). This is as normal for a general bolt. The metal end shall be to the tolerance of a close fit (4h) or an oversize tolerance as specified.
The tapped hole shall be to the tolerance 4H or, if it is not critical application a medium 6H tolerance can apply.
Be sure to give the Stud Experts a call with your next Engineer Stud requirements. Hague Fasteners are ready to manufacture for you.

British Manufacturing of Studbolts & Nuts – Special Fasteners

Since 1971 Hague Fasteners have perfected the art of Small Batch Special Fastener manufacturing.

From our inception in our earliest form in 1971, our early years saw us dominate the “breakdown delivery service” for troubleshooting emergency supply to the oil & gas industry.

Hague’s British Engineering Group were one of the earliest British manufacturers of Petrochemical Studbolts & Nuts. Their flow line thread rolling production facility in Wolverhampton ensured ASTM quality assured bolting was shipped around the world for Rigs and pipeline maintenance, the original Studbolt Manufacturing Ltd*

However in the late 1980’s due to costing pressures brought about by cheap Asian competition, Hague Fasteners decided to step away from the standard ASTM material production, leaving the regular sized Studbolts & Nuts to the competition. Naturally the market was flooded with often inferior Chinese manufactured cheap bolting, but as was so often seen in the 80’s British Manufacturing simply couldn’t compete with imports from China.

Several British Companies appeared as stockholders to continue the supply of Petrochemical Studbolts and Nuts by importing container loads of Foreign manufactured product. Some even claimed to “Manufacture” but simply cutting lengths of studding to required lengths misleading as the bolts remain imported and not of EU Origin. During this time Hague closed their Studbolt Manufacturing mass production facility and decided to focus their niche on the more specialist material grades where quality & integrity is required above cost alone.

To this day, Hague excel in the manufacture and supply of these Superalloy fasteners. Critical bolting in ASTM A453 660, Inconel 718, Inconel 625, Monel 400 along with Duplex & SuperDuplex Grades S31803, S32550, S32750, S32760.

It is with increasing regularity now that Hague Fasteners are winning orders against the cheap inferior imports where our High Integrity Customers through all Industries are stipulating that Imported Fasteners particularly of Asian Origin must not be supplied. An about turn and a return to British manufacturing excellence. Saving a few pounds is irrelevant if the quality you’re receiving is substandard or the materials received is not in full compliance with the specification required.

The Craftsmen In Fasteners – Risk Free Bolting Solutions Since 1971

* The appearance of “Studbolt Manufacturing Ltd” (now non-trading) in 2003 was as a result of the name being adopted by another firm following the closing down of The Ralin Group’s original named Company in the 1990’s and does not have any connection to Hague Fasteners Limited.

Hague Fasteners Product Showcase: Studbolts

Standard studbolts are now widely available off the shelf in the more obvious ASTM grades such as B7, B7M, L7, L7M, B8 or B8M, but we continue to provide a unique manufacturing service of studbolts and ancillary products such as washers in the more exotic materials.

Recent projects have seen studbolts and threaded rod, complete with heavy hex nuts, to BS4882 or ANSI B16.5 and ANSI B18.2.2 or BS1769 respectively, being manufactured by us in the Duplex grade 254SMO (Also known under the specifications UNS S31254, 1.4547, X1 CrNiMoCuN 20-18-7 and F44).

Over the years we have produced studbolts and heavy hex nuts in a wide range of these Duplex and Super Duplex grades as well as in grades of Incoloy, Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel, Titanium and many other nickel-based critical alloys.

As we are not stockists of petrochemical grade studbolts and hex nuts we will not be able to compete with importers who buy their product in bulk quantities, but we are very competitive with any item that they do not have on their shelves or in their stock, particularly in these critical alloys and with rolled or screw-cut threads.

We can produce any type of studbolt:  threaded rod (DIN975 & DIN976), tie bar, waisted studbolts (DIN2510), engineer studs (DIN938) slotted studbolts & wheelstuds or to your specific drawings or sample pieces.  Please contact us for more details or view our sales brochure.
